This week has seen the re-introduction of moksha yoga into my life. After being away from the studio for a month and a half, I decided it was time to get back in there and reacquaint myself with my centre. It will help deal with the pressure I have been feeling at the office, and also help mentally and physically prepare me for my upcoming week in Peru (which will be discussed later). After having a wonderful lunch with my high school friend Michelle, I went to the studio near Joshua's house where he and I did the 4p class. We found ourselves in a class of only 5 students including ourselves. After all, it was a gorgeous day out, the first in over a week so J and I deduced that most of the regular yogis were out frolicking in the sun, an activity which we would later do on Joshua's deck. This made for great practice as a class is usually 15 to 20 students leaving the instructor to walk about and correcting when she or he can, whereas today, Barbara was able to give a lot of commentaries on all of the attending students. A 90 minute practice, and about 2 hours in total in a room of 40 degrees celcius really helped relax my muscles and calmed my ever racing mind. Even more fun is following class, Joshua and I went back to his place and after enjoying a doobie, found ourselves doing Nataraja and Garadusana. For you novices out there, that's dancer's pose and eagle pose respectively. Believe it or not, our evening was spent doing sun salutations and other yoga poses in the sunset. It made for a relaxing evening. But what really topped my night was doing, at random, reverse prayer position. Essentially, reverse prayer is hands in prayer but pressed against the center of the back, as opposed to the chest. It is quite a challenging position, contorting your body so, and two weeks ago, I was nowhere near the full pose. I was playing around and this is what happened (Note the farmer's tan acquired this afternoon): www.mokshayogadowntown.com I was tres excited to have accomplished that. It truly made for an even greater day!
Michelle looking chic over lunch in the Annex, what fun.
I really like the shadow from the fire escape. Apparently, Michelle has done this before.
It looks nothing like the murals in Christiania, Copenhagen, but suddenly I miss Luke.
The sun was beating down today.
According to Joshua, I have sexy calves. When I think of calves, I think of cows. And we all know I'm a bit of a heifer... And soon enough, I will be doing more sun worshipping... only at Machu Picchu, like the Incas before me. It should be quite an adventure. Details to come!
